Antigo Wrestling Looks To Reload With Strong Incoming Class

Posted

The male Antigo wrestling team looks to reload after a strong showing at the state tournament last year. Gone are 4th place medalist Nolan Kielcheski and state qualifier Jayson Arrowood.

Antigo will lean on Sophomore Joseph Stimac to help lead the team. Stimac is the lone returning sectional qualifier on the male side, and looks to improve on a Freshman year that saw him victorious 36 times. Stimac worked hard in the off-season, culminating with a trip to the Fargo National Tournament in July.

Levi Binversie, the lone senior on the team, was the Great Northern Conference runner-up last year. Binversie will look to use his years of experience to make a run at the state tournament this February.

Junior Jordan Pregler, also a Great Northern Conference runner-up last year, will look to showcase his improvements earned from an off-season of competition. Pregler was a strong leader in the off-season, and that hard work will surely be seen on the mats.

Another Junior, Jack Sundermeyer, earned 3rd-team all-conference honors last year. Sundermeyer had 28 victories last year, the second most of anyone returning.

A trio of incoming Freshmen qualified for the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation youth state tournament last year. They include Logan Gallenberg, Keagan DesJarlais, and Skyler Williams. Each of these young men will be looked to contribute early on in their careers.

Additional returning Juniors include: Michael Hofrichter, who collected 13 victories last year; Nolan Lucht, who earned 9 victories last year; Owen Medo, who was victorious 8 times; and Seth Medo, who won 7 times. Kaden Schroepfer will wrestle for the first time as a Junior.

Other returning Sophomores include Mason Walrath, Eli Cornelious, and Levi Peterson.

Other incoming Freshmen include Logan DesJarlais, Clayton Perry, Ezra Dufour, Ben Hollister, Caleb Stimac, and Gryphon Beer.
