Ed Burkhart, 75
Ed Burkhart, of Summit Lake, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home. He was 75 years old. He was born on December 17, 1940 in Kent, a son of Rueben and Mary (Weber) Burkhart. He married Joyce Gaudette on January 28,1961 in Milwaukee. She survives.
He moved to Milwaukee as a young man where he served his apprenticeship and became a Master Mason. In 1974 he returned to Antigo where he and Larry Gaudette formed G&B Masonry, a company they operated until retirement in 2002. His sons continued the family business and Ed enjoyed working with them as a mason on a part time basis.
In 2006 he moved to the Summit Lake area where he enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, playing cards and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors including his wife are three sons, Jeffrey (Betsy) Burkhart, Germantown, Scott (Melissa) Burkhart, Deerbrook, Thomas (Kristen) Burkhart, Bryant; seven grandchildren Alex and Katey, Nick, Morgan and Jackson, Elizabeth and Laura; four sisters, Alice (Warren) Fuller, Lily, Ruth (Orlyn) Carlson, Holiday City, Florida, Mary (Raymond) Gibbs, Gresham, Millie Rudella and friend Jim Drew, Milwaukee; three brothers, Lee (Charlotte) Burkhart, Three Lakes, Ralph Burkhart, Sullivan, Floyd Burkhart, Bryant; four sister-in-laws, Marvel Burkhart, Pickerel, Eleanora Burkhart, Bryant, Janice (Norbert) Schroepfer, Bryant, Helen Burkhart, Antigo.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Parsons; four brothers, Otto, Wayne, Paul,and Donald Burkhart.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Kindle officiating. Burial will take place in Bent Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and again Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
