Marjorie V. Johnson, 93
Marjorie Virginia Johnson, of Antigo, died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. She was 93 years old. She was born on September 23, 1922 in Antigo, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Husnick) Schroepfer. She married William Johnson on November 16, 1946 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1998.
She was a 1940 graduate of Antigo High School.
Mrs. Johnson was a secretary at Eastview Manor in Antigo. In 2005 she moved to MacArthur Hall at the Wisconsin Veterans Home and was a receptionist there for many years.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and altar society. She was an accomplished artist who loved to paint, her paintings won many awards. She was a member of the Urban Ortrillo Art Club and the Wisconsin Regional Art Association. She also was a special arts volunteer, former Girl Scout leader and volunteered for many years for meals on wheels.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail (Thomas) Keen of New London; two grandchildren, Pamela Keen (John Ladd) of Appleton and Bill Keen of Appleton; step great-grandchildren, Amber, McKenzie, Cassidy; a step great great-grandson, Blake; a sister, Germaine (Norbert) Stephan of Wauwatosa; and special niece, Mary Stephan. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene (Lorraine) Schroepfer; two sisters, Loretta Bergmann and Mae (Peter) Gallenberg.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in the MacArthur Hall Chapel. A private entombment will take place in the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Antigo.
A special thank you to her niece, Mary for making the time to get the sisters together and to her second family at the Wisconsin Veterans Home for their love and support.
