Mary Lou B. Sargent, of Antigo, died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation. She was 92 years old.

She was born in Wabeno, daughter of the late George A. and Bernette (Mischo) Carlson. She graduated from Wabeno High School in 1941, and moved to Deerbrook in 1943 to work on a farm with her family. She married Harold Sargent in 1946, and he preceded her in death in, 2008. She was an avid sewer, knitter and gardener. For those who knew her, they will remember her very large garden on the farm. She shared the produce with many and canned and froze the rest. She loved walking in the woods on her farm, a place where she found peace.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, Daniel (Janey) Sargent of Apalachin, NY; two grandsons, Eric (Holly) and Patrick Sargent; sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Klinner of Mosinee, Peggy (Warren) Olson, Birnamwood, and Connie (Jerry) Davenport of Arkansas; and a brother in law, Stanley Koss of Antigo.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son James Sargent; daughter, Diane Sargent; sisters, Claris Carlson, Lorraine Tomlin, and Betty Koss; and 2 brothers, William and John Carlson.

The family would like to thank the many people who have helped to take care of Mary Lou in the past few years, especially the staff at Pine Meadows & Rosalia and Dr. Strong.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 9 at Faith United Church of Christ, of which she was a member. Rev. Dr. Wes Jedras will be officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Mary Lou’s name to Faith United Church of Christ or to Rosalia Gardens.

Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family. Friends may visit online at www.strasserrollerfh.com.
