Bernice Joy Legro, 87
Bernice Joy Legro died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Langlade Hospital, at the age of 87.
Bernice was born on December 29, 1928 in Antigo to the late William and Enid (Bowen) Knorr. On May 8, 1948, she married the late Robert Edward Legro in Antigo.
Bernice grew up in Summit Lake and is a 1947 graduate of Elcho High School. She worked as a medical receptionist for Dr. Garbisch and also as a sales clerk at Kroger, then SuperValu. Bernice was a Den Mother for Boy Scouts and also active in the Parent Teacher Association.
Bernice is survived by 4 sons, Ronald (Michele) Legro of Whitefish Bay, Larry (Carol Johnson-Hohol) Legro of Sun Prairie, David (Pam) Legro of Weston, and Douglas (Cindy) Legro of Neenah; her foster son Sid Bowen of Milwaukee; 6 grandchildren, Tyler Legro, Joseph Derus, Christopher (Tammy) Hohol, Eric (Donna) Hohol, Andrew Shaw, and Alyssa Shaw; her granddaughter-in-law, Alexia Hohol; her nieces and nephews, Ted (Bernal) Wagner, Judy Collins, Bill Knorr, Barbara Knorr, Mark (Laurie) Knorr, Kathy Knorr, and Karen (Butch) Lewis; 13 great-grandchildren, Kyla, Alexis, Joseph, Elise, Anthony, Brandon, Britney, Jared, Marissa, Natalie, Abigail, Ethan, and Grant; and her great-great-granddaughter, Aubrey.
In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Glenn Knorr, Lenora Wagner, Eugene “Roy” Knorr, and her infant sister, Delores Knorr; her grandson, Wade Hohol; and her nephew Bill Wagner.
A funeral service for Bernice will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 16th at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Wes Jedras officiating. She will be buried alongside her husband at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 18th at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to Langlade County Humane Society.
