Dorothy Margaret Jahnke, 76
Dorothy M. Jahnke, 76, town of Almon, passed away peacefully Monday, July 25, 2016 at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer, under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice.
She was born on May 20, 1940 in Green Bay, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Margaret (Nockerts) Maus.
On June 20, 1959, Dorothy was united in marriage to David Jahnke in Mattoon. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2003.
Dorothy worked for a number of years as a housekeeper at the Bowler School. She also worked in Gresham sewing women and girls clothing. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She was a wonderful cook and baker; no one ever left her house hungry. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Dave Jahnke, Antigo, Dan Jahnke, Antigo, Laurie (Jim) Cameron, Marion and Donna (Greg) Guderjohn, New London; 12 grandchildren, Steve (Tonya) Jahnke, Madison, Amanda, Jessica and Jenny Jahnke, all of Little Chicago, Ben Jahnke, Antigo, Kim Jahnke, Milwaukee, Alisha (Brandon) Resch, Antigo, Joel Jahnke, Seattle, WA, Kristi (Kyle) Newton, Hatley, Brad Cameron, Wittenberg, Casey (special friend, Jen Anderson) Guderjohn, Bear Creek and Kelly (special friend, Shawn Connolly), Menomonee Falls; 12 great-grandchildren, Alex, Jacob, Cheyenne, Michael, Ainsley, Jack, Addie, Aniela, Alainey, Lily, Ayiana and Elijah; two brothers, Roy (special friend, Darlene) Maus, Mattoon and Roger (Marilyn) Maus, Mattoon and five sisters, Betty (Don) Mogenson, Keil, Shirley Clauss, Mayer, AZ, Ruth (Ken) Hafferman, Bowler, Judy (Mike) Theix, Birnamwood and Janet Tofte, Iola. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Duane Jahnke, two grandsons, Darren Jahnke and Jeremiah Cameron; two sisters, Bernice Meeks and Karen Jahnke and six brothers, Bob, John, Richard, Harold, Ronald and Ted Maus.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Visitation will be from 9am until the time of services at the funeral home.
