Lemond Dye, longtime Deerbrook resident, died at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation on Saturday, September 24, 2016. He was 67 years old.

He was born September 10, 1949 in Chicago, IL, son of Alfred Foster and the late Dorothy (Dye) Irby. He married Tammy Johnson, and she survives.

Lemond was a graduate of La Salle High School. He attended Nicolet College, and University of Minnesota. He was employed as a counselor at Blackwell Job Corps Center until his retirement.

He had a great interest in astronomy, and enjoyed gardening, bird-watching and feeding birds, spending time with his dogs, and reading. He was a music lover, and had a vast and varied music collection.

Most important to Lemond were his faith and his family. He was a spectacular grandpa that his grandkids adored. Regardless of his means at the time, he was faithful in tithing, and supported children and ministries. He read the Bible daily, and his faith was inspiring to his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Tammy Dye of Deerbrook, he is survived by 3 daughters, Leah Schwartz (partner Nelson Reynolds) of Merrill, Lisa (Cory) Olson of Antigo, and Latonya Dye of Antigo; a son, Nathaniel Dye of Milwaukee; his grandchildren, Xavier, Ezra, Micah, Jonah, and one more on the way; a sister, Lydia Irby; and a cousin Darrow Fowler.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ezekiel; and a brother, Ronald Dye.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Pastor Thom Desmond officiating. Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 at the funeral home.

The family extends a special thank you to the Lemond’s caregivers at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center, who cared for him for 5 years. During his time in their care, they embraced Lemond, and became like family to him.
