Curtis Odin Inderdahl, 91
Curtis ‘Curt’ Odin Inderdahl, Sr., 91, Wittenberg, went to see the Lord Jesus and reunite with his wife, Maxine and two sons Bill and Corky in Heaven, on Sunday, October 23, 2016. He passed away at Autumn Lane Family Care in Birnamwood, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born on October 17, 1925 in Waupaca, the son of the late Carl and Hilda (Borgle) Inderdahl. He was the second son in a family of seven children.
Curt’s early years were spent in the Iola-Waupaca area. He was baptized at Hiterdahl Lutheran Church in Iola and confirmed at the Northland Lutheran Church because of a fire at their church. He worked at farm jobs around the area until age 18 when he was hired at Central Wisconsin Electric Coop as a lineman. At the time, this company had fewer than 10 employees doing the whole job.
It was when he was putting in electric line to the Stroud farm that he met Maxine. They were united in marriage on June 22, 1946 in Wittenberg. Curt continued working on the lines even though it was a very stressful job.
In 1980, the company wanted Curt to come into the office and “share the knowledge he had of the lines”, his answer was only part of the week. After a few days of dressing for the office, he needed to put on his old work clothes and “do the lines”. Curt and Maxine made their home in Iola during this time.
In 1997, they returned to Wittenberg to build their new home and retire. They bought a camper and enjoyed traveling. On their 60th anniversary, they went on an Alaskan Cruise with their daughter, Cheryl and son-in-law, Dick Klapste. It was a wonderful cruise and Curt still talked about it.
For Curt’s 80th birthday, he received a shiatzu-pug who was the apple of his eye, named Susie. He loved her right to the end; she now resides at the Klapste residence.
Curt cherished his time with his great-grandson, Trevor, teaching him all about bearings and auto parts, installing and repairing them. Trevor enjoyed that too, He will miss him. Curt also cherished the time spent with great-grandson, Wyatt, who would come cut lawn without being asked. The kids were real good to him and he loved them.
Curt couldn’t wait for his grandson Dave to come “get the boat”, and the night he began to see Maxine in his dreams, we all knew his days would be short, and they were. But he helped us fill them with love and good advice.
Curt had a 1930 Model A Roadster that is in show condition. He was so proud of it and helped other hobbyist with their cars also. He really enjoyed going to care shows, especially the Iola Car Show.
