Robert Lee Postler, 74
Robert Lee Postler entered into heaven Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Langlade Hospital under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 74 years old.
He was born May 30, 1942 in Wausau, son of the late Paul Jacob and Viola (Lindner) Postler. He married Joan Marie Boyd on December 7, 1963 in Antigo.
Bob was raised in Birnamwood, and attended Birnamwood High School. He was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Kraft Foods in Antigo and Wausau, and continued his technical education throughout his career.
He was member of Four Corners Assembly of God Church, and was a past board member there. He was a supporter of many faith-based organizations including WRVM radio, St. Jude’s and Shriner’s Hospitals, and Shepherd’s Chapel.
A man of many interests, Bob loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening, riding motorcycles, and fishing. His fishing trips brought him to Canada and Montana with friends and family. He enjoyed shooting sports, building collectible guns, and was a state champion in archery. He loved building and was passionate about it. Along with his family, he built their home and all the buildings on the property. He operated his own sawmill and was a skilled woodworker, and was known by the handle “Wood Buzzard” on CB radio. Bob was an accomplished pilot, attaining instrument flight rating. He enjoyed many trips flying his family and friends to remote destinations far and wide. He brought music to friends and family, playing the banjo. His greatest treasure in life was his family.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Postler of White Lake, a daughter, Peggy (Eddie) Meyer of Suamico; 3 sons, Paul Jacob (Stephanie) Postler USAF, Ret. of Montello, Patrick (friend Maria) Postler USAF, and Peter (Darlene) Postler of Montello currently USAF; a brother, Perry (Lila) Postler of Antigo; 14 grandchildren, Erik USAF stationed in Massachusetts, Brooke, Caleb, Zechariah (Toni) USAF stationed in Georgia, Seth, Alex, Abraham, Nathaniel, Gracie, Ian USAF stationed in Italy, Cole, Allie, Blake, and Madyson; a great grandson Brantley; his mother-in-law, Mary Boyd of White Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Paul Jacob Postler; his father-in-law, David Boyd; and a nephew, Jesse Boyd.
A celebration of life will take place at Four Corners Church on Saturday, November 26 at noon, with Rev. Marvin Kindle officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of the celebration service.
