Marcella M. Block, 96, Wittenberg, died Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born on May 15, 1920 in Wittenberg, the daughter of the late Chester and Clara (Hartleben) Bloecher.
On June 17, 1947, Marcella was united in marriage to Eugene Block in Wausau. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1986.
Marcella and Eugene farmed in Hatley for a number of years. She also owned and operated a beauty shop in Hatley. Marcella loved to knit and made many beautiful sweaters. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing.
Survivors include one son, James Block, Wittenberg; two grandchildren, Vitus (Gaby) Block, Oshkosh and Mary Jo (Kenneth) Barnett, Tomahawk; four great-grandchildren, Nikki (Josh) Schmidt, Sydney and Gracie Barnett and Nino Block; two great-great-grandchildren, Braxton and Levi and her sister-in-law, Ann Block. She is also survived by other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marcella was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Brigitte Block; grandsons, Donald Block and David, in infancy and brother, Harold Bloecher.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Wittenberg. Visitation will be on Friday from 1pm until the time of services at the funeral home. .
