Betty Jane Zalewski of Antigo died Wednesday, July 26, 2107, at the age of 92, under the care of Rosalia Gardens, LeRoyer Hospice, and her family.

Betty was born on August 4, 1924 to the late Walter and Annie Kell in Milwaukee. She graduated from South Division High School in 1942. In August of 1944, Betty married Edwin Zalewski in Norfolk, VA. He preceded her in death. Edwin served in the United States Coast Guard and during that time they lived in Norfolk, VA, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Atlantic City. Betty and Edwin then lived and raised their family in Milwaukee where Betty worked as a homemaker, at Empire Level Company, and at Splinter’s Pickles. They vacationed for many years in Minocqua where she later became a permanent resident, living with her mother and beloved dog Blizzard. Betty then moved to Antigo to be closer to her family, residing at Pine Meadow and later Rosalia Gardens. Betty was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Arbor Vitae and United Methodist Church of Antigo. She enjoyed quilting with the church in Minocqua for 14 years, being by the lake, baking, entertaining, and decorating the house for holidays, especially Christmas. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and her puzzles. Betty loved her family and grandchildren dearly and had a special place in her heart for her dog.

Survivors of Betty include her daughter Carol (Joe) Ivanecky of Farmington, MN, her son Ron (Terry) Zalewski of Deerbrook, her brother Harold (Jane) Kell of Minocqua, and her grandchildren Sam Ivanecky, Ben Ivanecky, Rachel Zalewski, and Neal Zalewski.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Jane.

A memorial Service for Betty will take place on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. A visitation will also take place at the funeral home on Saturday the 19th from 9:00-11:00 AM.

A memorial will be established in Betty’s name.
