Douglas Holmes, 69
Douglas Wade Holmes, age 69, of Antigo died September 25, 2017 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital.
Douglas was born on March 28, 1948 in Fresno, CA to the late Grady and Sarah (Gray) Holmes. Douglas graduated from high school in Fresno and attended Fresno City College. He served in the US Army during Vietnam as a medic.
He was united in marriage to Victoria Lass. She survives and resides in Antigo. The couple lived in California for many years, where Douglas was a mechanic and carpenter. Upon retirement they moved to Antigo in October of 2013.
Douglas was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he was a high priest and a Melchizedek priesthood holder. He loved his family and was always willing to help others. Service was his middle name. He was especially talented with computer repair.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son Timothy (Janee) Tietjen of Clovis, CA, 7 grandchildren, 4 brothers, Gerrel Holmes, Esteven Holmes, James Holmes all of California, and Danny Holmes of Washington.
In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by a daughter, Tara Toby and 4 sisters, Jaunice Yocum, Gail Evans, Darlene MacWhinney and Gloria Ralley.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will be hosting a memorial service on Wednesday, October 4 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Gary Rakes officiating.
