Eugene H. Behm, 88

Eugene H. Behm, 88 of Birnamwood, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, January 6, 2018. He was born on July 6, 1929 in Antigo, the son of the late Henry and Evelyn (Wallschlager) Behm, a 1947 graduate of Birnamwood High School. On August 16, 1950, Eugene was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Haupt in Wittenberg. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1994. The couple farmed in the town of Birnamwood.
Eugene was an avid hunter and fisherman; most memorable was coon hunting with his favorite dogs. As well as farming Eugene used to cut logs and Christmas trees to support his family. He and his wife were very active in the local snowmobile club for many years. For several years he had been a member of the Shawano County Auxillary Sheriff’s Department as well as several other community groups. Whenever possible he followed his favorite sports teams in football, basketball and wrestling; especially his alma mater, UW Madison.
Eugene is survived by four children: Jaquelyn (Leonard) Cohen of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Karl (Denise) Behm, Allan Behm of Birnamwood and Barbara Behm of Merrill; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Broome, Kimberly (Kyle) Watson & Tracey Cohen; Jessica (Brandon) Fischer, Eric Behm, Michelle (Nick) Popoutis, Barbara (Kevin Wolf) Jacobi and Joel (Dawn Kayhart) Jacobi; Nine great-grandchildren: Zachary Broome, Damon and Jazmine Wolf, Mason, Ethan, and Adalyn Fischer, Mac, Jeremy and Aliza Jacobi; a sister, Marcia Tellock of Wausau and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Eugene was preceded in death by twin daughters in infancy.
