Gerhart “Gary” Max Henry Kieper, 93
Gerhart “Gary” Kieper, of Antigo, died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 93 years old.
He was born September 10, 1925 in Polar, son of the late Reinhart W. and Eleanora (Parson) Kieper. He married Adeline Shank, daughter of Emil and Amanda (Koch) Shank on February 15, 1947 at St. Peter Lutheran Church. The Kiepers were blessed with 72 years of marriage.
The Kiepers resided in Lebanon, Oregon for many years, and they returned to the area in 2000.
Mr. Kieper was employed as a heavy equipment operator, and also operated a Christmas tree business. He was a member of the Northwest Christmas Tree Association.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include 3 sisters, Angeline (Dennis) Fischer of Oregon, Marjorie (Carroll) Erlandson of Prairie du Sac, and Darlene (Vern) Raab of Antigo; a sister-in-law, Phyllis (Tom) Hunchusky of Illinois; a brother-in-law, Eugene (Jean) Sha nk of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marion Koch; 2 brothers, Reinhart and Glenford; 3 sisters-in-law, Ruby Gresch, Ione Wheeler, and Helen Pecha; and a brother-in-law, Rueben Shank.
A funeral service will take place Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar, with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 Monday at the church. Interment will follow the service at St. Peter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
