A 3-0 deficit turned out to be too big of a hole for the Antigo boys’ hockey team.

The Red Robins trailed Waupaca 3-0 heading into the third period of a Great Northern Conference matchup at the Waupaca Ice & Expo Center Dec. 4 and ended up on the short end of a 4-2 final score.

Neither team scored in the first period, but Waupaca found the net three times in the second period on a pair of goals from Eli Bartel and one from Mitchell Trzebiatowski.

Antigo’s Isaac Wickersheim cut the lead to 3-2 with a pair of goals in a four-minute span in the middle of the third period, but Waupaca’s Cody Rasmussen closed out the scoring.

Antigo outshot the Comets 25-21.

The Red Robins will return to action at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, by hosting New Richmond at the Langlade County Multipurpose Building.
