Leonard “Peannie” Bazille, of Pickerel, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, due to a long and relentless battle with cancer. He was 74 years old. He was born on March 1, 1944, in Antigo, a son of the late Glen and Theora (Mikkelson) Bazille. He married Donna Puls on September 18, 1965, the couple later divorced.

Leonard worked most of his life in the woods logging. He later worked for the Town of Nashville, doing road maintenance until an injury that caused his retirement.

He loved hunting and fishing. Hunting was his passion, especially with his sons and grandchildren. Fishing with his good buddy and friend, Joe Bostwick, who kept in touch with him on a daily basis to make sure he was doing okay.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence (Melissa Boron) Bazille of Pickerel; two sisters, Yvonne (Allen) Walentowski of Minocqua and Gail (Martin) Rummel of Wabeno; seven grandchildren, Heather (Joe) Bazille Grisius, Brooklynn Bazille, Kylee Bazille, Angel Drewniak, Anniemay Prince, Mike Prince and Gage Conley (who called him “Grandpa Pie”); three sisters-in-law, Mary (Paul) Shadick, Diane (David) Monnot, Sue Puls; and two brothers-in-law, George Clark and Harry Puls. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Lee and Jason Bazille; mother and father-in-law, Irene and Melvin “Huns” Puls; and two brothers-in-law, Terry Puls and Duane Webb.

No service will be held, a memorial gathering will take place at a later date.

Peannie, your suffering, and pain are over now. You are now flying high with your two sons, Lee and Jason, that you dearly missed. You will be truly missed by all who knew you, especially by your family. Rest in peace until we all meet again. Life will definitely not be the same without you.
Love, your family
