Monte Charles Krueger, lifelong area resident, died Friday, February 22, 2019 at his home. He was 80 years old.

He was born October 5, 1938 in Polar, son of the late Charles and Blanche (Haviland) Krueger. He married Mary Kielcheski on December 29, 1962 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Langlade, and she survives.

He was a 1956 graduate of Antigo High School.

Monte was the owner and operator of Krueger and Stienfest, Distributors Limited Inc., and M & M Trucking. Prior to taking on the role of trucking and heavy equipment business owner, he worked with his father, Charles F. Krueger, in logging and excavating.

Monte was at his shop every day, and never retired. It was joked that he “semi” retired because he spent so much time in the semi truck. He loved trucks, and was always collecting trucks and equipment. He loved spending time with his family and friends, going to truck shows, and operating his tractors and equipment. He also enjoyed listening to country music, and spending time with his dogs, Mike, Katie, and Frank.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Lisa (Scott) Wagnes of Antigo; 2 sons, Monte “Shane” (Janet) Krueger of Antigo, and Travis (Hannah) Krueger of Antigo; 5 grandchildren, Gregory Krueger, Savannah Wagnes, Bailee Krueger, Korbin Krueger, and Carter Krueger; 2 great grandchildren, Jaida Lee, and Josie; and 3 sisters, Maxine Stienfest of Wittenberg, Geraldine Mallebranche of Antigo, and Kay Skinner of Antigo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Belle Gray.

A funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM Thursday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Rev. Marvin Kindle officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM, and Thursday from 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home. A convoy of trucks will lead the procession to Queen of Peace Cemetery after the service. Any fellow truckers who wish participate with their trucks are invited to arrive at the funeral home for line up at 9:00 AM Thursday.
