Antigo Athletes and Club Student of the Week
Antigo High School Athletes of the Week are Kendall Smith and Ben Morris.
Kendall is on the Varsity Softball Team and her coach is Sandi Robrecht.
Kendall is a leader on the field. Whether she’s on the mound or playing shortstop, she has played a vital role in the successes of the season. She has homed in 5 of their last 6 conference games. She also pitched 22 innings last week, including both games of the Rhinelander DH. She’s a leader, a spark when needed, and has a true love for the game.
Ben is on the Varsity Tennis Team and his coach is Dave Zalewski.
Ben is an athlete who never stops trying. He isn’t the most talented player on the team, but he tries his hardest to improve and strives to do his best. He comes to practice with a good attitude and a willingness to learn.
The Middle School Athlete of the Week is Alyssa Tincher.
Alyssa is on the Middle School Track team and her coaches are Lynn Czerneski, Dave Hickman, Clarice Zimmerman, and Carla Wissbroecker.
During the Banana Relays in Mosinee, Alyssa had to give up something and she was awesome about it. Alyssa could not run a throwers relay because she was the only girl. She handled it so well and continues to be very kind and respectful. She continues to work hard and improve at shot and disc. She is a great teammate and very coachable.
Simone Lanik is the High School Club Student of the Week. Simone is a member of the Spanish Club and her adviser is Lorra Metko.
Simone will be traveling to Panama in June. She is also a founding member of Educators Rising and attended the first annual Educator’s Rising Conference at UW-Stevens Point this year. Simone is Metko’s right hand woman, and Metko said she doesn’t know where she’d would be without Simone’s help. Simone has also been a part of the unofficial club “Yarn Over” where she learned to crochet.
