Antigo Cross Country Traveled to Tomahawk
FOR ANTIGO TIMES
Antigo Cross Country made the delayed trip to Tomahawk. Due to the weather this past week and the forecast, the start time was delayed an hour. Despite the change in plans, the team was ready to roll. However, we had a couple of athletes out this weekend. Rylee Aird caught a bug the night before the meet and Karl Busse is out for the season after a stress fracture was confirmed late this week. Snow was flying, but the course was dry for the most part.
The boys started off conservatively, which paid off for Logan who ran another PR cutting down to 18:09. Michael had an off day, but is motivated for Sectionals.
The girls did amazing as well, all three with SR and two more PRs – Ellie and Alyssa. Although not a PR, Jena closed in on her PR again this meet even more so, only a few seconds off before her final race of her high school career at Sectionals.
Our next meet was the GNC Championships – hosted by Antigo High School – at Gartzke Flowage. Races began at 11:00 AM according to the conference bylaws.
Additional volunteers were welcome – spectators were also welcome! Our seniors, Jena and Michael, competed at State Marching Band, but we had some good competition and runners on the most challenging and beautiful course in the area.
