Lucille Amelia Treptow, 101
Lucille A. Treptow, 101, formerly of the town of Almon, Shawano County, died on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
She was born on May 8, 1915 in the village of Bowler, the daughter of the late Paul Sr. and Minnie (Bartleme) Fuhrman. Lucille was baptized into God’s family on June 13, 1915 and confirmed her faith in her Savior on August 18, 1929. She attended Bowler High School as far as grades were offered at that time and then completed her high school education by taking the train to Shawano, graduating from Shawano High school in 1935.
On November 17, 1937, Lucille was united in marriage to Edward O. Treptow, Sr. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Bowler. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2005.
Lucille was a homemaker while raising seven children. The couple operated Fuhrman’s Fish Hatchery in the Town of Bartleme and dairy farmed for a number of years. After the youngest child entered school, Lucille began to work outside the home in and around Bowler, including; being a store clerk at Carley’s Red Owl, Wolff’s Grocery Store and then the PTD Mart, waitressing at Wolf’s Stoney Curve and cleaning at the Citizen’s State Bank. Lucille was an excellent cook and enjoyed making meals for family and holiday get-togethers. She liked to work in the garden and did lots of canning. Lucille did an array of needle work; sewing, embroidery, knitting, latch hook, needlepoint and making quilts. She was a lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Bowler, and after its closing, continued to be a member of The United Lutheran Parish. She was an active member of the Ladies Aide for many years. Over the years, Lucille was a member of various Bowler card clubs, homemakers clubs and the Almon Senior Citizens. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends and especially delighted in the time with children and pets.
Survivors include five children, BettyAnn Treptow, Fond du Lac, Kenneth (Melodie) Treptow, Hinckley, IL, Richard (Sandi) Treptow, town of Almon, Edward (Cindy) Treptow, Jr. and Patsy (Gary) Koenig, all of Bowler; one daughter-in-law, Rose Serrano, Wabeno; nine grandchildren, Anthony (Michelle) Treptow and John (Theresa) Serrano, all of Birnamwood, Sarah (Michael) Boesche, Waterman, IL, Adam Treptow, McGirr, IL, Tammy (Bradley) Treptow, Sheboygan, Daniel (Raquel) Treptow, Bowler, Kelly (Tyler) Krull, Birnamwood, Eric Koenig and Kristina Koenig, both of Bowler; five great-grandchildren, Terri and Joseph Serrano, Paige and Tanner Treptow and Carter Krull and one brother-in-law, Roland Marquardt, Albert Lea, MN. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lucille was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald and Roger; one daughter-in-law, Patricia; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Martin (Mary Jean), Melvin, Paul, Jr. (Helen) and Walter; one sister, Florence Marquardt; one grandson, Mark Serrano, as well as Edward’s family.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Rev. Barry Levine will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Almon, Shawano County. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30am until the time of services at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Homme Home of Wittenberg for the care they gave Lucille during her stay there.
