Joan M. Schoepke, 85

Joan M. Schoepke, 85, Wittenberg, died Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born on November 3, 1929 in Wittenberg, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Sophia(Mathison) Schoepke. She was baptized and confirmed from First Lutheran Church, Wittenberg and graduated from Wittenberg High School in 1947.
Joan earned her nursing degree from the Bellin School of Nursing and continued her nursing career at Bellin Memorial Hospital, Green Bay until her retirement in 1992. She held various positions spanning 44 years.
She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and was a season ticket holder. She served a number of years on the Citizens Board of the Green Bay Packers and also served as President of the WI Nurses Association. While living in Green Bay, Joan was active in Altusa International and belonged to a bridge club. She was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Green Bay and was very active in the church choir. Joan enjoyed accompanying her parents on visits to Norway and Germany, gardening, animals and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two brothers, Jon “Jack” (Debbie) Schoepke, Siren and Rudy (Louise) Schoepke, Delano, MN and one sister, Betty Jane Dawson, St. Louis Park, MN. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Amy Meyer will officiate. Inurnment will take place in spring in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10am until 11am at the church.
