Lawrence H. Ebert, 84
Lawrence H. Ebert, age 84, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Antigo.
Lawrence was born on September 7, 1931 in the Town of Larabee, Waupaca County, son of the late Herman and Alma (Schoneck) Ebert. He was baptized on September 27, 1931, and confirmed on March 25, 1945. On May 1, 1971, he was united in marriage to Jackie Hoffmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield.
Lawrence farmed with his dad, worked at FWD in Clintonville, Allis Chalmers in Appleton, and retired in 1993 after 25 years of service from 4-Way Express in Appleton. The couple retired and moved to Post Lake, Elcho, WI in 1993.
Lawrence was an avid bowler, snowmobiler, worked on race cars for the Buettner Brothers race team, enjoyed deer hunting, and fishing. He served on the Waupaca County Snowmobile Association. Lawrence loved polka dancing, and was a singer who provided music for many weddings. He and Jackie, along with their families, cooked pigs for many functions in Clintonville, Shawano, Wausau, Menasha, Green Bay, and Post Lake for many years. In retirement he installed wood paneling and finished the basement in the house, hand-routered many signs, played pool and horseshoes for Sunset View Resort.
Survivors include his wife Jackie Ebert of Elcho; brother-in-law, Kenneth Buchberger of Clintonville; 3 nieces, Denise and Brenda Buchberger, and Heather Wearing, all of Clintonville; 2 nephews, Jamie (Coni) Huntington of Chippewa Falls, and John (Danielle) Huntington of Wausau; 3 grand-nieces, Hailey, Natalie, and Madeline Huntington; and 2 sisters-in-law, Jane (Harry) Huntington of Wausau, and Joan (Mike) Wearing of Clintonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Jean (nee Suehring) Ebert; sister, June Buchberger; and niece Holly Wearing.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Elcho, with Rev. Jerome Hahn officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, and 9:30-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Martin Cemetery in Clintonville.
A memorial will be established in Lawrence’s name.
