The Langlade County Humane Society received a much appreciated early Christmas present on Friday December 11th, when the facility was notified of approval of a $35,000 grant from the Petco Foundation.
As stated in an official notification from the foundation, since 1999 the foundation has “invested more than $125 million in lifesaving animal welfare work and partners with over 8,000 animal welfare organizations to inspire and empower communities to make a difference by investing in adoption and medical care programs, spay and neuter services, pet cancer research, service and therapy animals, and numerous other lifesaving initiatives.”
“Through our Think Adoption First program, we partner with Petco stores and animal welfare organizations across the country to increase pet adoptions. So far, we’ve helped more than 4.2 million pets find their new loving families, and we’re just getting started.”
According to LCHS director Bob Zoretich, the funds will be received within the next couple weeks. Plans for the funds include the addition of a garage to the current facility as well as an updated software package for the micro-chipping of animals.
