He loved hunting and spending time at the cabin and time with his girls. He also took on many construction and landscaping projects at home, and enjoyed fixing up cars with mechanic and auto body work.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, and served on the finance committee.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by 2 daughters, Michelle and Marnie Umland of Antigo; 2 brothers, Mike (Michelle) Umland of Chippewa Falls, and their children, David, Dustin, Katelin, Jonathan, Erin, Lauren, and his other brother Matt (Kasii) Umland of Muskego and their children, Peyton and Tyler; his grandmother, Andree Wick of Antigo; his mother in law, Joan Labbus of Antigo; 4 sisters in law, Eileen (Dan) Meyer of Antigo, Helen (Mike) Ourada of Merrill, Eunice (Craig) Mathews of Bradenton, FL, and Audrey (Jim) Kavanagh of Wausau; 2 brothers in law, Paul (Jean) Labbus of Antigo, and Mark (Kris) Labbus of Berlin; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Ada Umland; maternal grandfather, Richard Wick; and his father in law, Richard Labbus.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Polar, with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will follow the service in the St. Peter church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the family and a memorial will be established in Mark’s name.
