Christine Stroik, 86, Wittenberg, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital, Stevens Point.
She was born on January 30, 1930 in the Town of Franzen, Marathon County, the daughter of the late Vincent and Stella (Rybacki) Firkus, Sr.
On June 26, 1948, Christine was united in marriage to Walter Stroik in Galloway. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2007.
Christine was born and raised in the Galloway area. Walter and Christine moved to the Milwaukee area and then returned to Galloway after retirement. She enjoyed polka dancing, fishing, gardening and playing bingo, but she especially loved spending time with family.
Survivors include four children, Judy Stroik, Wittenberg, James Stroik, Edgar, Jerry (Barbara) Stroik, Milwaukee and Jennifer (Gary) Valentine, Milwaukee; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Tryba and two brothers, Vincent Firkus, Jr. and Victor Firkus. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, Christine was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl, Barney, Thomas and Albert and three sisters, Theresa, Clara and Lorraine.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galloway. Fr. Augustine Bentil will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9am until the time of services at the church. Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg is assisting the family with arrangements.
