Thomas J. Strasser, of Antigo, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Evergreen Terrace. He was 74 years old.

He was born December 5, 1941 in Bryant, son of the late Ulrich “Ole” Strasser and Sarah (nee Prosser) Strasser Maxted. He married Mary Rasman on August 7, 1965 in Antigo. She survives and resides in Antigo.

Tom was a 1959 graduate of Antigo High School, and attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls and Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee.

As funeral director and owner of Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, he cared for the community for 40 years.

He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. As an active and devoted member, he served many leadership and committee roles.

Tom loved God, his family, his church, and the community. He exemplified his commitment to the community via his stewardship through Antigo Optimist Club, Elks, Masons, Langlade Hospital Board of Directors, Bank One Board of Directors, Chamber of Commerce, Housing Authority, coaching youth baseball and basketball, President of the Wisconsin Funeral Director Association and active in the National Funeral Director Association, and Bass Lake Country Club. He was an avid athlete and sports fan, and enjoyed playing and watching football, baseball, and basketball. He loved gardening and his apple orchard. He lit up the room with his sense of humor and good nature.

In addition to his wife, Mary, survivors include 2 daughters, Kate (Michael) Rader of North Richland Hills, TX, and Ann (Eric) Roller of Antigo; a son Tim (Kathy) Strasser of Wausau; 3 sisters, Joanne (Charles) Merkel of Sykesville, MD, Lois Jones of Antigo, and Mary (Dwayne) Guenthner of Antigo; a brother, Richard (Bonnie) Strasser of Antigo; 6 grandchildren, Caroline, Sarah, and Nicholas Roller, Michael and Meghan Rader, and Charlie Strasser; and a brother in law, Tim (Kathie) Rasman of Green Bay.

The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dick Kendall officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.

Memorials in Tom’s name may be directed to United Way of Langlade County, First Baptist Church, Kettlebowl Ski Hill, or the charity of your choice.
