Marjorie I. Raith, 95
Marjorie I. Raith, age 95, formerly of Summit Lake died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice.
Marjorie was born in Elcho to the late Edwin and Mabel (Orr) Shulze.
She was a graduate of Elcho High School class of 1938. She completed nurses training at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago, becoming a registered nurse. She then enlisted in the US Army and served as a lieutenant during World War II stationed in England.
She was united in marriage to Theodore J. Raith on October 2, 1945 in Camp Landing, FL. Theodore preceded her in death on May 27, 2007.
Marjorie and Theodore owned and operated a dairy farm in Summit Lake and Marjorie also worked for Daley Clinic in Elcho. She later worked at Langlade Memorial Hospital.
After selling their dairy farm the couple resided on Summit Lake. Marjorie enjoyed reading, flower gardening, music, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Green Bay Packers, and sunsets over the lake.
She was a member of United Church of Christ in Elcho and played organ there for many years.
She was a member of American Legion Post #377 of Elcho.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mary Alice Keen of Deerbrook, Rebecca (Donald) Johnson of Green Bay, Bertha (Jeff) Grant of Rhinelander, a son Frank Doud of Lac du Flambeau, 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Keen, Sara Keen, Jeff Welk, Stacey Gibson, and Melanie Dockendorff, and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Gordon Schulze of Bonduel, 2 sisters-in-law, Arlene Schulze of Sun City, AZ, and Marge Bussert of Elcho, and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Grace West, Edna Shulze, Ruth Hansen, 4 brothers, Arthur, Edwin, Charles, Gene, and a son-in-law Milton Keen.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21 at 11:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Dana Schindler will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the service at the funeral home. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Summit Lake.
