Jim Hofmann, 80
Jim Hofmann, of Deerbrook, died at his home on Sunday, June 18 at the age of 80. He was born on November 10, 1936, in Antigo a son of the late Frederick and Irene (O’Brien) Hofmann.
He graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1954. He served in the United States Marine Corps.
Jim married Mary Ann Doucette and together raised 5 children: Lisa (Parker) Hillery, Jeffrey Hofmann, Fred (Stacey) Hofmann, Jackie (Brent) Hipke, and Jamie (Ray) Carver.
He retired from the Langlade County Hwy Department.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid gunsmith. Baseball was his favorite sport, he very capably filled the position of “Catcher” for Deerbrook Sunday afternoon County League games.
He was an extremely competitive trap shooter, bringing home many titles and trophies, including that of State Champion.
In addition to Mary Ann and his children he is survived by grandchildren, Tanya (Mike) Ballard, Cory (Dana) Hillary, Sara, Austin & Tyler Hillary, Justin O’Nan, Trevin Hofmann and Kohlten Hipke; a great-granddaughter, Nova Jane Ballard; two brothers and a sister; Dale (Barb) Hofmann, Tom (Donna) Hofmann and Virginia (Jack) McCann; brother in law, Gordon Doucette; three sisters-in-law, Carol Fisher, Dolores Doucette and Sue Doucette; nieces and nephews; Diane (Glen) Weberpal, Steve and Joanie Fisher, Barb (John) Koskovich, Donna (Mick) Prather, Deb (Monte) Hoffmeyer, Linda (Arlo) Anderson, Gary (Michelle) Jacobson, Dr. John (Lisja) Doucette, Danielle Doucette, Brian, Brad and Brenda Hofmann, Jodi Paulson, Becky Marquard, Christopher and Kevin McCann.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lisa.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place at St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery, Neva where Antigo veterans will conduct military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 am until the time of service all at the funeral home.
