Early Tuesday morning, September 12, 2017, Ralph J. Zamrzla of Antigo was granted eternal peace. His family was with him and he was under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and Hands with Heart.

Ralph was the son of Ed and Anna (Soman) Zamrzla. He was born on his mother’s birthday, August 9, 1926. He was raised in Antigo and graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1944. He lived and worked in the Milwaukee area in the early 1950’s. This is when he met Grace Olbrantz, his future wife. He was also a member of the Wisconsin National Guard during that time. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church.

On June 13, 1953, Ralph married Grace Olbrantz at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Milwaukee, WI. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this summer (“64 years on highway 64”). They farmed in Antigo until 1988.

Ralph is survived by his loving family: his wife, Grace; children: Ruth (Peter) Madden, Sheboygan; James, Asheville, North Carolina; and Mary (Jason) Grunow, Sheboygan. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Claire Madden of Milwaukee and Caitlin Madden (Clayton Fitzgerald) of Madison. He was pre-deceased by his parents, infant son Joseph, and other relatives and friends.
Ralph loved his family & friends, his home, airplanes, cowboy shows, garage parties, and “Snappers”. He was always ready to help others.

The family would like to express their gratitude to LeRoyer Hospice for providing compassionate care to Ralph and his family so he could be where he wanted to be, at home. Also, the care team at Hands with Heart, for the past four years, enabled Ralph and Grace to stay in the home where they lived most of their lives.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 15 at 2:00 PM at St. John Catholic Church. Reverend Charles Hoffmann will officiate. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 PM until the service.

Interment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
