For the Antigo Times

This weekend, Antigo’s varsity wrestling team took second place with a team score of 240 at the Clintonville Trucker Invitational. Kewaunee High School took first with a team score of 270. They were led by junior, Ben Stimac and sophomore, Connor Dettman who earned first place honors. Billy Hull, Brandon Lucht and Nick Roller all earned second place finishes.

“Everyone wrestled well, and they are starting to peak as a team right now. Connor has been working hard since last year and it’s starting to show. Ben is just a really solid wrestler. He hasn’t had a let down all year. Last year he was good, but this year he’s someone for opposing wrestlers to be afraid of. I was pleasantly surprised at how well we performed. It’s a long season and they have been up to the task put in front of them. We have a tough week with Tomahawk, Rhinelander and the DePere Duals. It will be exciting to see how we do,” said Coach Ben Olsen.

The JV finished fourth at the Wausau West JV Tournament. Frank Kneeland finished first with four pins. Neil Bretl and Josh Heuss finished second. Royce Bauer finished third.
