The next meeting of the Langlade County Senior Club is Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 1:30pm to 3pm. The club meets at the Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont Street, Antigo, in the meeting room off the main hallway.

The meeting opens for some general discussion of any member’s previous month’s activities, any illnesses of members, and recognizes those who have grown one year older. They also hold a door prize drawing for 10 lucky winners, as well as play some light hearted bingo. Please call Doug Curler at 715-623-2253 if you have any questions.

President’s Report:  Doug made comment: (a) always a roster at the check-in to look over for proper information; (b) read email from Ron Barger, Director of Langlade County Health and Social Services for a luncheon meet and greet on March 27 at 11am to explore ways of ‘Building Healthier Langlade County (BHLC)’ through a Healthy Aging in Rural Towns grant. Any members are welcome to attend. (c) Alliance for Retired Americans Friday Alert with an article where the Trump administration has rolled out a request to allow health insurance companies to charge older Americans up to five times as much as younger policy holders. (d) Last, about his youth archery activities at Rib Mountain Bowmen, he has seen as many young girls as boys take up the sport as well as at a Bow Jam event at Ojibwa Bowhunters teaching young archers how to build their own self bow.

Kathy Schultz from the Aging and Disability Resource Center at 1225 Langlade Road, Antigo, spoke on some of the rules for Spousal Impoverishment Protection Under WI Medicaid. There was some discussion, but the issue was for couples to contact their local ADRC Office to find out if there is any help before they lose all their assets because of medical bills.

There was also an example of mail scam post cards coming into our area and citizens should be wary about providing any person information from any unsolicited sources.

Check out the club and please bring your ideas for club activities, which are not only important to seniors, but for the betterment of the community. Their procedure is to allow any first time attendee to enjoy taking part in their door prize drawing and bingo.
