Two area veterans will be on the next Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Monday, May 21. This will be the 32nd Never Forgotten Honor Flight since the program was founded in 2009. One WWII veteran and 100 Vietnam Era veterans will fly out from Central Wisconsin Airport for their trip to Washington D.C. This flight will also feature special guest and former Green Bay Packer, Gilbert “Grave Digger” Brown.

Included from Langlade County are Edward Fick, Vietnam Army veteran from Deerbrook and Michael Kubitz, Vietnam Navy veteran from Bryant.

Each trip is a one day trip. Veterans spend most of the time at the World War II, Korean & Vietnam Memorials. They also visit the Lincoln Memorial, Air Force Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial (Marine Corps War Memorial), Arlington National Cemetery & the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The Never Forgotten Honor Flight program is based out of Wausau. All veterans, regardless of active combat experience but having served in WWII, Korea, or the Vietnam Era are eligible for the free sightseeing excursion to the capital. As of April 23, 2018, the Never Forgotten Honor Flight Hub has flown 2,835 veterans and 1,733 guardians to Washington D.C.
