Antigo Stallions took Championship at Waupaca Tournament

On Saturday June 22 the 10u Antigo Stallions took the Championship in the Waupaca Comets Tournament. It was a day that saw games start just before 11:00am and the final of an extra inning Championship game recorded almost 12 hours later.
The Stallions recorded their first win of the day defeating Kimberly 8-5.  Caleb Vandenlangenberg led the offensive with a triple and 2 doubles driving in  3 runs.  AJ Kohler knocked in 2 with a pair of singles.  With a double Jack Sundermeyer plated another.  Gauge Guenthner’s single knocked in another.  Hayden Thill tripled and Alden Jaje added an RBI via walk.
Zander Zwirschitz, Vandenlangenberg and Thill combined to strike out 10 in the victory.
Next the Stallions took on the Gladstone Wave from the U.P. with the winner advancing  out of pool play to the Championship game.  The Stallions took an early lead with an 8 run first inning and never looked back in the 20-5 victory.
Scotty Hagerty and Vandenlangenberg each had 3 singles and drove in 2.  Thill collected 4 RBIs with a pair of singles. While Guenthner drove in drove in a pair with a double and single. Kohler used a single and walk to plate 2. Both Jordy Pregler and Sundermeyer singled to drive in a run.  Carson Rhode and Jaje both contributed an RBI in the effort.
Thill, Guenther and Hagerty struck out 10 while toeing the rubber. With heads up play by catcher Hagerty and pithcher Guenthner turning a passed ball into an out picking off a runner attempting to score.
The Champioship game would be a hard fought back and fourth game that would take an extra inning to decide. A 12-10 victory over host Waupaca saw the Stallions take home the tournament title.
Kohler led the offense with 2 doubles and a single to drive in 4.  Pregler  used a double and 2 singles to plate 1.  Three singles by Hagerty drove in another.  Vandenlangenberg knocked in 2 more with a pair of base hits.  While Sundermeyer drove in one with a single. Also collecting hits in the game were Guenthner with a triple, Rhode with a double, while Kruze Krueger and Zwirschitz each collected a base knock.
On the mound Vandenlangenberg, Thill, Guenthner, Kohler and Hagerty combined to strikeout 17.  The title was clinched when the pop fly nestled into Pregler’s glove.
Next up for the team is the  DC Everest 10u Summer Splash tournament.
