MaryAnn Zemke, 91
MaryAnn Zemke, longtime Antigo resident, died at Langlade Hospital on Saturday, January 30, 2016. She was 91 years old.
She was born March 23, 1924 in Green Lake County, daughter of the late Gottfried and Anna (Mausli) Spreng. She married Albert Zemke at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo on August 20, 1949. Mr. Zemke preceded her in death on January 25, 2001.
Mrs. Zemke graduated from Antigo High School in 1942. She was a homemaker and worked at David’s Clothing Store.
She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Organization (BPW), and Langlade Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels delivery, Volm Cancer Center, and North Elementary special friend program. She enjoyed golfing, spending winters in Florida, painting and drawing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Zemke was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra (Steve) Wisnefsky of Waunakee; 2 sons, John (Sandra) Zemke of Sheboygan, and William (Darcel) Zemke of Springdale, AR; 5 grandchildren, Scott (Rivka) Zemke, Brett Zemke, Michael Wisnefsky, Peter Wisnefsky, and Kathryn Zemke; a great-grandson, Benjamin Zemke.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Hattie Spreng, and Ruth Lehmann; and a brother, Ernest Spreng.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Volm Cancer Center.
