Motorcycles at Traffic Signals
The summer season is still in full swing and there are several motorcyclists on the roadway. For those who ride, and frequent the City of Antigo, the Police Department would like to remind you of a law on traffic signals.
When approaching a red traffic signal at a controlled intersection with a motorcycle, the sensors underneath the motorcycle in the street will not activate a green turn signal if the motorcycle is not heavy enough, unlike a passenger car or truck. If you are waiting at the intersection on a motorcycle or moped for more than 45 seconds, you may cautiously proceed through the intersection after confirming traffic is clear both ways, even if the traffic light is still red.
