Ludwig George Bauer, 88

Ludwig George Bauer, of Antigo, died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was 88 years old. He was born on October 19, 1927 in Birnamwood, a son of the late Ludwig and Bertha (Seus) Bauer. He married Christine (Boettcher) Hoke on January 23, 1965. She survives.
He attended Sandy Lane School in Aniwa. Before marriage he farmed the family farm. Mr. Bauer worked for the City of Antigo Street Department for 26 years retiring in 1991. He also worked weekends for Baker Canning Company during summer harvest.
Ludwig and Christine traveled many places throughout the United States and Europe. He also enjoyed many years of deer hunting with family in Birnamwood. He enjoyed collecting, recycling and repairing in his work shed that he built. Ludwig loved playing cards with his many friends.
In addition to his wife survivors include a son, Dale (Renae) Bauer of Arbor Vitae; granddaughter, Samantha Bauer; four step daughters, Diane Grosenheider of Litchfield, Ill., Janice (Jim) Schafer of North Liberty, Iowa, Maxine (Kris) Kettner of Antigo, Elaine (Tim) Hoffman of Adel, Iowa; step son, Evan Hoke of Antigo; nine step-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Gilmore, Marcella Baneck and Rose Blyton; and three brothers, Edwin, William and Vernon.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Omer Kelley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
