For the Antigo Times
The Antigo High School Marching Band performed this past weekend at the Blackhawk Marching Invitational at Baldwin-Woodville High School on Saturday and The Rhythm by the River competition at UW-River Falls on Sunday. The band placed second in Class A Competition at the Blackhawk Marching Invitational scoring a 69.75, and placed third at the Rhythm by the River competition with a score of 71.3.
“The production continues to improve and I credit the students for the adjustments that were made prior to Sunday’s performance. We are looking forward as we prepare for the State Marching Band Championships on Saturday,” director Jeff Dewey said.
The State Marching Band Championships referenced by Dewey will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15th at UW-Whitewater’s Perkins Stadium. Antigo will perform at 3:15pm in Class A competition.
The Marching Band’s 2016 Production is entitled “The True Heroes of Iwo Jima” and is based on the book “Flags or our Fathers”. The book follows the story of Antigo native John Bradley and the original Iwo Jima flag raisers.
