Patrick Powell, 75
Patrick Powell, of the town of Norwood, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at home. He was 75 years old. He was born on March 12, 1941 in the town of Norwood, a son of Patrick and Mary (Knipp) Powell. He married Virginia Slater on September 5, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon. She survives.
Pat enjoyed working on cars and as a young man worked in several garages in Antigo prior to owning and operating his own body shop in the town of Norwood.
In 1976 he began dairy farming. He expanded the farm acreage over the years and in 1999 he converted to beef farming.
He was a Minister at Full Gospel Community Church and school in the town of Antigo for 10 years. Pat’s faith was important to him as he did daily bible readings gave to those in need on a regular basis. Pat helped raise some of his siblings and continued to maintain a close relationship with them and his many nieces and nephews.
Survivors including his wife are two daughters, Valerie (Larry) Meyers, Woodville, Kristine (Kevin) Bradley, Antigo; four sons, Kevin (Shellie) Powell, Antigo, Gary (Pam) Powell, Antigo, Mark (Christie) Powell, Antigo, Jason Powell and fiancée Ashley , Antigo; 14 grandchildren Amanda and Michael Bradley, Sean (Rachel), Reanna and Justin Powell, Jessica, Julie and Coltin Powell, Lily, Molly and Aubrey Powell, Brad, Jonny and Braydon Powell; two great-grandchildren Rori and Kinley; seven sisters, Maxine (Paul) Meyers, Woodville, Yvonne Poland, Antigo, Mary Copps, Ogema, Willma Luther, Omro, Thelma Paulson, Antigo, Barbara (Earl) Roberts, Wautoma, Patsy Schulz, Antigo; two brothers, Jack (Penny) Powell, Bryant, Pierre Powell, Antigo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Thomas, Charles and Richard Powell.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene, Mattoon with Rev. Mark Quinn officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in spring.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
