Letter to Parents and Students

Antigo—April 19, 2017 — As we near the end of March, the 2017 Prom event quickly approaches. In an effort to help you and your family plan for one of the most memorable high school events that we offer, we want to provide you with as much information as possible about our safety and security procedures.

As we have in the past our supervision and monitoring throughout the event will include staff chaperones, high school administration, and local law enforcement. Our high school administration will assist with monitoring students as they enter the building and make their way into the event. Our supervision routine begins with greeting students as they arrive and while they greet other couples. Our chaperones are also working closely with the students as they register for the grand march and complete the voting process for the Prom Court.

There will also be a law enforcement presence both in the building and outside on the campus property throughout the night. Again, the routine followed during our Prom events will include law enforcement monitoring students as they arrive, during the grand march and dance and as students leave the event throughout the night. Students should also be reminded that as with any dance event once you leave the dance you will not be allowed to return.

Much of what is planned during the evening has been organized by our Student Council Prom Committee. The planning, decorating, and entertainment is all meant to enhance the prom experience. We are looking forward to an enjoyable and memorable event for the students.The support provided by the school staff, administration, and law enforcement will be consistent throughout the evening. Our goal is to allow students to enjoy the event while at the same time providing a secure and safe environment for a successful high school prom experience.

As with most communities, the Spring Prom in Antigo is a community event. The interest and support of parents, close family, and community members is evident as we typically have standing room only during the Grand March. We are grateful the Antigo community celebrates along with the students this milestone in their lives as they take another step closer to fulfilling their goals and dreams as young adults.
