Robert J. Obst, 89
Robert J Obst, of White Lake, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at home under the care of his family, friend Kim Mytas and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 89 years old. He was born on May 8, 1928 in Milwaukee, a son of Arthur and Margaret (Volkommer) Obst. He married Doris Carroll on September 30, 1950 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Milwaukee. She survives.
He was a graduate of Shorewood High School with the class of 1946.
Bob served in the United States Army from May 11, 1951 to May 9, 1953.
For 37 years he operated the Obst American Family Insurance Agency in Brookfield, retiring in 1996.
He was active in his community serving as a Boy Scout leader and scout master. Bob coached his children’s basketball teams and Little League Baseball.
In 1999 he moved to White Lake where he and Doris made their home on the Wolf River. He enjoyed canoeing, camping, hunting, fishing, campfires and playing bridge.
He was a member of St. James and Stanislaus Catholic Parish and the Anderson-Sather American Legion Post #524, White Lake.
Survivors including his wife are two daughters, Kymetha (Patrick) Jaskolski of White Lake, Karyn (Scott) Popelka of White Lake; four sons, Robert Obst of Middleton, Jeffrey Obst of Menomonee Falls, Stephen (Deborah) Obst of Brookfield, Christopher (Barbara) Obst of New Berlin; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice Baldridge of Florence.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Langlade with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place in Langlade Cemetery town of Wolf River where the White Lake Veterans will conduct military rites.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
