Glenn A. Schmidt, 76

Glenn Allyn Schmidt, age 76, of Antigo died Monday, July 31, 2017 at his home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice.
Glenn was born on November 28, 1940 in Portage, WI to the late Reinard and Anna (nee Selje) Schmidt.
On April 7, 1962 he was united in marriage to Joann Kay Halvorson at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rio, WI.
Glenn was a graduate of Rio High School class of 1959. He then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Duncan and USS Mason until 1963. He was grateful for the opportunities to travel and the education he received at Great Lakes Naval Station. He was then employed by IBM as a computer technician in the Chicago area. In July of 1977, Glenn and Joann moved to Antigo, where Glenn opened his own small engine repair and service center, Glenn’s Saw Service. In addition to his local business, Glenn also had an Ebay store.
Glenn was “Mr. Fixit” for many and always went over and above to serve his clients.
Glenn was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where he was active as an usher, served on the church council, and the property committee.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Joann, include a daughter Nona Kay (Larry) Klimke of Sun Prairie, WI, 2 sons Keith Allyn (Denise) Schmidt of Antigo, Keven Ray (Janice) Schmidt of Merrill, WI, a sister Caryn (Carl) Schultz of Columbus, WI, 4 grandchildren, Cory (Julie) Schmidt Kyle (Charity) Schmidt, Ashley (Brad) Donovan, Chelsey (Kirk) Nordness, 6 great grandchildren, Bryden Nordness, Caiden Schmidt, Eli Schmidt, Lexi Schmidt, Carissa Schmidt, and Emma Donovan.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 1:30 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church. Reverend Karen Tews will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday at the church from 11:00 AM until the service. Military honors will follow the service at the church.
Memorial donations in Glenn’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society and Calvary Lutheran Church.
