Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 1/29/18
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Tuesday, January 16th
9:10 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Neva Road reporting that they had a counterfeit bill. The business had no idea who had given them the bill. It was entered into evidence.
10:11 AM Officers referred a male student for disorderly conduct at Antigo Middle School.
Wednesday, January 17th
2:00 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was just in an accident at Charlotte Street and Hwy. 64. The reporting female was cited for having no insurance. The female driver of the other vehicle was cited for not wearing a seatbelt. A state accident report was completed.
Thursday, January 18th
10:14 AM Officers responded to a call from East Elementary reporting that a male student took off from school again, heading down Watson Street. The male student was brought to the Safety Building and was turned over to his father.
11:14 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on Hudson Street reporting that she had let a male subject stay at her home for a couple of nights and now her checkbook was missing. The bank was notified and a stop was put on her checks. Officers had enough evidence to charge the male party, but they were waiting to find out if the reporting female wanted to press charges.
1:46 PM Officers responded to a call from North Elementary School reporting that 3 of their staff members had been struck by a male student. The student also took a swing at officers and the principal. Officers tried to calm the student down, but later had to take him home to his mother.
2:53 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was just in an accident in front of an area business on Hwy. 64.
3:28 PM Officers received a call from an area business reporting that a vehicle hit one of their buses while it was parked at the Middle School. The vehicle took off. The vehicle was described a black SUV. The SUV would have significant damage to the passenger side fender and mirror.
4:02 PM Officers received a call from an area business on Clermont Street reporting that they had received a fraudulent call from someone claiming to be from Wisconsin Public Service. The caller told them that they were behind on their bill, which they weren’t. WPS was also aware of the scam.
Friday, January 19th
12:20 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Kaplanek Avenue. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense. A probation hold was placed for no drink and prohibited alcohol content. He was also given a written warning for speed.
3:18 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 9th Avenue and Hudson Street. The male driver was cited for obstructing and speeding and a Department of Corrections hold was placed for violation of a no drink policy.
7:33 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a silver car was tailgating and switching lanes on Superior Street and 10th Avenue. The caller told officers that the vehicle had almost hit her. She gave officers the license plate number. The vehicle was last seen westbound on 10th Avenue.
8:39 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on 5th Avenue reporting a small boy, about 3 years old, was standing outside the business with no coat or jacket, hat or gloves and was alone. Officers also received a 2nd call from another business on 5th Avenue reporting that the boy was now inside their business. The father of the child was then seen walking westbound on 5th Avenue looking for his son. He told officers that he had left his apartment that morning and left his son in the care of the boy’s uncle. When he came back home, the uncle was sleeping and his son was missing. The boy was turned over to his father.
10:31 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on 3rd Avenue reporting that a red car had just left and scraped the whole side of her car. The other vehicle was driven by a male subject from Antigo.
12:43 PM Officers responded to call from a male reporting that a car just ran into a snowbank near his residence on N. Superior Street. The male driver of the vehicle told officers that he had turned the corner from North Avenue to N. Superior Street and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed from the snowbank. There was no damage to the vehicle or the yard.
9:18 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 8th Avenue. Two subjects were arrested on probation holds. One subject was also cited for operating without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Saturday, January 20th
1:05 PM Officers responded to an anonymous tip reporting that they saw the warrant of the week at an area business on Superior Street. Officers arrested the female subject on two Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrants for failure to pay fine – operating while intoxicated related and failure to pay fine for theft of library materials. They also arrested a male subject on two Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrants for failure to pay a fine for operating while suspended. Both subjects were transported to jail.
Sunday, January 21st
12:50 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on 5th Avenue reporting a fight between two male subjects. The caller told officers that they left on foot, in an unknown direction of travel. Officers referred both male subjects for disorderly conduct.
3:54 PM Officers were at a residence on 6th Avenue. A female subject was arrested on a Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to pay a fine for operating without a license. She was transported to Corrections.
5:46 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that a female subject with brown hair and wearing a red shirt was stealing items in the business. Officers arrested the female subject for bail jumping and retail theft.
8:28 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Lincoln Street reporting that a female subject walked into her home when her daughter and her friends were home alone and screamed at them to give her dog back. The caller told officers that now, more people were back and outside her home in a dark colored truck and a red car. The parties argued over ownership of the dog. Officers decided it was a civil matter. The female subject was told to leave the property and not return. The female called officers back at 10:30 PM reporting that her boyfriend went outside because they saw a shadow and he came across the female subject in their yard. She swore at the male and ran off. Officers went to the female subject’s residence on Fred Street and attempted to make contact with her. No one would answer the door or the phone. The female subject was cited for trespassing.
Monday, January 22nd
7:25 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on S. Morse Street reporting that a garbage truck had just struck a power pole with the truck and broke it. The caller reported that they continued to load the garbage and then left southbound on Morse Street. Officers discovered that the pole had been broken off about 8 feet from the ground. The garbage truck was located on Freiburger Avenue.
8:15 AM Officers cited a male student for truancy for missing all or part of 21 unexcused days during the first semester.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, January 17th
4:12 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Cty. Rd. HH and Hwy. 52. The female driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 8th offense and possession of marijuana.
Thursday, January 18th
4:10 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 10th Avenue. The driver was cited for operating while suspended, 1st offense. They were also referred for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a prescription drug without a prescription.
Saturday, January 20th
12:35 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting a vehicle in the ditch with significant damage on Cty. Rd. D near Elbow Road. The vehicle was out of traffic and no one was around. The vehicle had struck a pole. WPS was notified. Officers noted that the airbags had not deployed and there were no signs of injury. Photos were taken and the vehicle was towed. Officers attempted to make contact with the registered owners, but were unsuccessful. 8:20 AM Officers received a call from the female that had been driving the vehicle. She told officers that the accident had occurred at 10:10 PM the night before. She said that she had been reaching for a bottle of water and got “sucked in” to the ditch. She then called for a ride and told officers that she had planned on calling a towing company that morning. The female denied drinking and said that she was unaware of any pole damage. She told officers that she didn’t know that she was supposed to notify police of the accident. The female subject was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to notify police of an accident.
4:27 PM Officers responded to a report of a snowmobile accident on Rolling Stone Lake on Walleye Road. Officers were told that the parties on the scene had the male subject’s spine stabilized, he had a strong pulse and he had lacerations to his face. Two female witnesses told officers that the male subject had been “playing around” on the ice when the snowmobile tipped on its side and he flew off, landing on his face.
Sunday, January 21st
7:26 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he came upon a car with a female occupant that went into the ditch at Hwy. 45 and Boettcher Lane. There were no injuries, but the vehicle needed to be pulled out of the ditch. The female driver told officers that she hit black ice and went into the ditch. The vehicle was towed out. The female subject was cited for unreasonable & imprudent speed and was given a written warning for no proof of insurance.
8:36 PM Officers responded to a call from a male who was at an accident on N. Langlade Road. The caller told officers that a vehicle was flipped and the driver may be intoxicated. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense and for having a prohibited alcohol content. He was also given a 7 day correction notice to provide proof of insurance.
Monday, January 22nd
5:42 AM Officers responded to a report of an accident on Hwy. 47, east of Hwy. 45. It appeared to be a slide in. There was no one around the vehicle. Officers left a message for the vehicle owner. 1/22/18 6:30 AM Officers received a call from the male owner of the vehicle. He said that he would get the vehicle removed after 3:00 PM that day. Officers gave the male until 5:00 PM to remove the vehicle unless the Highway Department requested that it be removed sooner.
4:20 PM Officers responded to a call from an area towing business reporting that after towing a vehicle out of the ditch at Hwy. 45 and Cty. Rd. D, the driver went about 1,000 yards and put the vehicle in the ditch again, hitting a fence. The towing company was going to wait for officers to arrive before towing the vehicle out again.
Tuesday, January 23rd
6:16 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Cty. Rd. TT and Cty. Rd. A. The male driver consented to a search of the vehicle. Officers located a syringe. Later it tested positive for meth. The driver was cited for operating while suspended. He was referred for possession of meth and felony bail jumping.
