Open Skate February 26th 11:30am-1pm Langlade County Hockey Arena, 1633 Neva Road, Antigo. The Antigo Area Youth Hockey Association, in collaboration with the City of Antigo Park & Rec Department, offer FREE open skates throughout the year at the Langlade County Multi-Purpose Building. The Open Skates are FREE with the donation of a canned good. There is a limited supply of skates available for use (these are free, but must be returned at the end of the skate). Thank you to the Antigo Optimists for donating money for the purchase of more skates to be used by those in the community. There is no skate sharpening at the rink during open skate times. Registration is not required to attend Open Skates.

Preschool Story Time February 28th 10:30-11:15am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Introduction to Internet Safety: What You Don’t Know Can Hurt Them Starting March 1st Wittenberg-Birnamwood Schools. The Wittenberg-Birnamwood School District is offering parents two presentations aimed at increasing their knowledge of internet safety. The first presentation will take place during spring Parent-Teacher Conferences at the following locations & times: March 1 & March 6 – 4:30 & 5pm at Birnamwood Elementary School, 5:45 & 6:15pm at Wittenberg Elementary School; April 5 – 4:30 & 5pm at Birnamwood Elementary/Middle School, 5:45 & 6:15pm at Wittenberg Elementary/Middle School, 6:45 & 7:15pm at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School. The first session will last 15 to 20 minutes & introduce parents to the need for safety precautions & resources parents can use to help protect their children. The second presentation will take place on April 10 at the following locations & times: 5-6pm at Birnamwood Elementary/Middle School, 7-8pm at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School. During the second session, Shawano County Sheriff’s Department Detectives Gordon Kowalski & Jesse Sperberg will discuss hidden dangers online including websites & chat apps that parents should be aware of. That session will feature the detectives going online live to show parents what can actually occur. Child care will be offered to ensure parents are able to attend. Four Year Old Kindergarten Open House March 2nd & 16th 11:30am-6pm Crandon Elementary School, 9750 Hwy. 8, Crandon. The Crandon School District is having an open house for parents interested in 4 year old kindergarten for the 2018-19 school year. Any interested parents can fill out an enrollment form for their child that day. Parents are required to bring their child with them when enrolling. They should also bring their child’s birth certificate and immunization record. Staff will be presenting information and answering parent’s questions. Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre – “Eat, Drink, and Be Murdered (An Irish Family Feud)” March 2nd & 3rd Doors open at 5:30pm with dinner being served at 6pm WOWSPACE, 114 Vinal Street, Wittenberg. Join us at the WOWSPACE for a marvelous meal, mayhem, mystery, and of course a murder! The meal choices are Cornish Game Hen with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy or Baked Cod Royale (Cod with dill butter and mozzarella cheese) with rice pilaf. Squirrel Hill Loopy Loppet & Beat the Bunny Races March 3rd 9am Minocqua Winter Park, 7543 Squirrel Hill Rd, Minocqua. A continuous, dual technique race. Participants ski one lap in the classic technique, exchange gear, and immediately head out for a lap of skate skiing. Total race distances are 24 km(9.4 km classic + 15 km skate), 10 km (3.9 km classic + 6.1 km skate), and 4.5 km (2.2 km classic + 2.3 km skate).
