Hodag Water Shows Thru August 20th (Sun. & Wed.) 7pm Hodag Park, Boom Lake, 1103 Thayer St., Rhinelander. HWS performs a show that features acts such as ballet, jump, swivel skiing, trick skiing, barefooting, doubles, trios, wakeboarding, and pyramid. Members range in age from 6 to almost 50 and some of the members have been with the team for more than 30 years. End of Summer Extravaganza August 18th Boys & Girls Club of Langlade County, 411 Superior St., Antigo. Sizzlin’ Summer Camp is drawing to a close. The Extravaganza is our annual celebration for all of the accomplishments of the summer. The award ceremony will recognize the kids who stood out in each program, from art awards to most-valuable player sports prizes, and of course, character & leadership awards. Members get the chance to prank the staff too. They will purchase tickets to put their name in a drawing for each staff member. When the member’s ticket is drawn, that member gets to prank the staff whose raffle bucket they chose. Pranks will include pies in the face, the ice bucket challenge & slime among other things. Formed in the Chicago area in 1975, The Special Consensus is a four-person acoustic bluegrass band with a repertoire that features traditional bluegrass standards, original compositions & songs from other musical genres performed in the bluegrass format. Shawano Library – View the Eclipse August 21st 10:30am-4pm Shawano City-County Library, 128 S. Sawyer St., Shawano. Come join the Shawano City-County Library as we observe the All American Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, August 21. The Library will provide safe viewing glasses to area residents. Glasses can be picked up Friday, August 18 from 8am-5pm & Saturday, August 19 from 9am-1pm until that allotment of glasses is given out. Additionally, an allotment of glasses will be reserved to be handed out at our event held on August 21. Glasses may be picked up for family members that reside in your household. Unfortunately, the giveaway is not intended for groups or organizations. The eclipse begins at 11:52am in our area with peak viewing at 1:15pm. The eclipse will be completed at 2:37pm. Stop in to see our displays and view the NASA Edge Mega-cast on our large, flat screen TV located at the checkout desk on the main level. At 12:45pm we will offer bubble blowing and shadow tracing for the children in a roped off area of the parking lot. Popsicles for all! Don’t forget to apply sunscreen before you come.
