7th Annual Summer Swing Golf Outing August 20th 1-8pm Bass Lake Golf Course, W10650 Bass Lake Rd., Deerbrook. This is a 4 person scramble with prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Dinner and a Movie – Avengers August 20th 5pm Shawano County Library, 128 S Sawyer St, Shawano. Movie will begin about 5:30pm. Snowshoe Baseball Through August 27th (Every Mon.) 7:30pm Held at Snowshoe Park, Highway 47 & Choate Blvd., Lake Tomahawk. Snowshoe baseball is a game of softball played on snowshoes, using a 16 inch ball with no gloves. Concession stand opens at 5:30pm. Hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, popcorn & the fan favorite, homemade pies, are served at every game. No charge for admission. Arrive early & watch the players warm up because seats & pies go quickly. Senior Center of Langlade County Trip- Waupaca Chain of Lakes August 21st 9am. Bus will board at The Refuge parking lot, 410 Hwy. 64, Antigo. The Senior Center of Langlade County will be taking a bus trip to tour the Waupaca Chain of Lakes. The boat trip starts at 12:30pm, so we will be having lunch before the boat ride. This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

This state approved course prepares you for the National Restaurant Association Certification examination from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services by providing managers and employees in the food service industry the knowledge of food safety procedures. By taking this state approved course and passing the certification examination, you will be eligible to apply for your Certified Food Manager License from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. This is a men’s and women’s 4 person 18 hole golf scramble with a shotgun start at 12:30. Cost is $60 for members or $75 for non-members. This includes dinner after golfing. 32nd Annual Foot Stock August 25th-26th 7:30am-3:30pm Peshtigo Lake, Hwy. 32/55, Crandon. National Barefoot Endurance Championships. Footstock is the world’s biggest figure eight endurance barefoot championship. The world’s best professionals take on amateur bare footers from across the US on a grueling figure eight course. Competitors go head to head battling wind, waves and each other to see who can barefoot the furthest. Not for the meek. Some people come just for the announcing-which is just as entertaining. Water Ski Magazine dubbed it the “craziest water ski tournament in the country.”

Ride the River August 25th 9am-1pm Agra Pavilion, 400 S. Park St., Merrill. Join us on August 25th for a bike ride on the scenic River Bend Trail along the Wisconsin River including Council Grounds & the streets of Merrill. Check-in begins at 9am & the ride starts at 10am. The course will be open until 1pm. Both courses will start and end at the Agra Pavilion at 400 S. Park Street, Merrill. Event will be held rain or shine. We designed the event to be budget-friendly for families while raising funds for our trail! The cost for the ride is $15 per person or $30 per family. If you have a membership as a Friend of the River Bend Trail there is a discounted registration fee of $10 per person. Refreshments, snacks and lunch will be available with registration. Langlade County Community Ceramics, a non-profit painting group that meets every Monday and Friday from 9am-Noon at Sts. Mary & Hyacinth, Classroom 8, 819 3rd Ave., Antigo. Class cost is $3.00, to cover paint and anyone is welcome. We also take art-related field trips four times a year.
Alzheimer’s Support Group August 23rd 1:30-3pm Langlade County Senior Center, 1225 Langlade Rd., Antigo. This Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group will meet the 4th Thursday of each month. We are a new support group for anyone who has felt the devastating effects of a friend’s or loved one’s suicide.
